About Malik Medical Centre
Malik Medical Centre, established in 1995, was founded by Professor Malik Hussain Mubbashar, a pioneer of psychiatry in Pakistan. He developed community mental health services, psychiatric research, and policies that became a global model for low-income countries.
As Principal of Rawalpindi Medical College and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences, Lahore, he transformed psychiatric education, introduced behavioural sciences in medical studies, and guided the Mental Health Ordinance 2001.
He also founded Pakistan’s first WHO Collaborating Centre for Mental Health Research and Training in Rawalpindi, leaving a legacy of innovation, education, and compassionate care that continues through Malik Medical Centre.
